About Me
My career took shape at 26, when I joined London Business School as a Programme Manager. I was responsible for recruiting Executive MBA students and coordinating company audits in South Africa. It was an early crash course in diplomacy — navigating conversations with senior executives, academics, and students — and it gave me a confidence I didn’t know I had.
Not long after, I found my way into recruitment, and very quickly into the charity sector — where I’ve stayed ever since. In 2004, I founded my own agency and spent the next few years building it from a one-person operation into a thriving team of 26 across London and Manchester, specialising in income generation roles for the not-for-profit sector.
I’ve always been interested in the psychology of organisations — what makes them tick, what helps people thrive — and I’ve tried to bring that curiosity into the way I lead. One year, I brought my whole team to the French village where I now live, to explore the dynamics of business and community side by side. It was more of an experiment than a lasting model, but it taught me a lot about connection and environment.
In 2018, I stepped back from the business and moved to Provence to set up a microbrewery — a creative outlet, and also a way to protect my own wellbeing after years of high-pressure leadership. I didn’t expect to be gone so long, but the pandemic changed everything. I eventually closed my London business, Flow Caritas, in 2022.
So why am I sharing all of this?
What I have realised is that careers aren’t linear. Life takes unexpected turns, and with each change, there’s a chance to learn. For me, that’s included:
Building and leading a high-performing recruitment business
Coaching individuals and teams
Speaking French (well enough to survive!)
Playing the drums and tuba
Learning how to brew beer, ferment food, and run workshops
Understanding people — from fundraisers to founders to exceptional leaders
Now, as I move back to the UK in summer 2025, I’m already deep into my next chapter — working with schools, charities and purpose-led organisations to strengthen their income generation and build teams that thrive.
